My Story
Hi! I’m EJ. Here’s a little about me and my passion.
I was born in a small town in Texas called Killeen but, my true hometown is Wasilla, Alaska. I started taking photos in middle school just for my family. Whenever we would travel to different places, or had random family gatherings I was the cameraman. I didn’t know one bit what I was doing. In high school I started wanting to learn and take classes on the fundamentals of taking pictures and making videos. Found out I really love being behind the camera but, also found out that was because I was insecure about how I looked in pictures. As long as I was taking the pictures I didn’t have to be in them.
I started with nature pictures to just practice and get used to using a camera. Once I got the hang of it, I wanted to challenge myself and take pictures of people. It wasn’t until I attended college at Seattle Pacific University when I saw photography as something I could do as a career. With the classes I took and the multiple opportunities that showed up while in college, I got excited to the idea of starting to do photography more frequently. The more I got to learn about things like shutterspeed, aperture, focal point, etc. the more I wanted to do something with it in the future.
A big part of my why behind this business is my faith background. I believe that God created every person in his image and God doesn't make mistakes. Everyone is created beautifully and intentially by him. With that in mind, not only do I want to be centered in Christ but I want everything that I do centerned in him as well. Photography at first, was the very thing that gave insecurity in myself. Now that I am more secure in Christ, he redefined what it means to be made in his image. With my business, I now want to help others have that same realization for themselves. I see it like I'm partnering with God to use the skills he gave to me to be his vessel to help remind people of that truth. If someone can look at pictures that I took of them and genuinely love the way they look in the picture, that is the true goal with this business.
